Monara Lighthouse

What separates a rock from water?
waves numerous like muddled desires
touch sandy shore actualized by crabs

inside city no one knows what they bring
a memory clawing wreaths of reef
sticking out broken wooden planks,

face damp in humid fumes of August
like a foggy mirror in a bath room
where steamy eyes mope over and over

in an instant fibrous ants make way
through holes of creaking door, their
lean crawl stop you from meeting me

last time we met the sea boiled over
your sweltering tongue, monosyllabic,
tide-heavy, surged arrogantly —

only last year the lighthouse keeper
buried his bride on craggy commotion
he is alone, beating rhymes, one, two, three
